Kungsvåning – Royal floor

Kungsvåning – Royal floor. Buildings with so-called royal floor were built in Stockholm mainly in the 1920s. In order to circumvent the maximum height specified in the existing urban plan you could “go to the King”, i.e. apply to His Royal Majesty who could permit an additional floor to be built. Sometimes there is a longitudinal terrace/balcony in front and sometimes it is separated from the rest of the façade by a narrow pitch roof. Attics were built above royal floors under a pitched roof.
